Utah Wants the Safety of Gold (03/04/11)Utah joins the ranks of states that are (or once were) considering adopting gold as legal currency. See this earlier American Crier article: U.S. States Want to Drop the Dollar. The state lineup is now Georgia, Montana, Missouri, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington, Vermont, and Oklahoma. So fully 25 percent of the U.S. has considered an alternative to the FED printing press.
Utah, unlike other places, has perhaps a better shot at putting legislation through due to their large Mormon population which places emphasis on preparation to withstand disasters (i.e. Mormons are required to store a year's worth of food). |
